Kap: SOLD OUT: Merino Wool and Alpaca Roving $32/4 ounce ball
Kap: SOLD OUT: Merino Wool and Alpaca Roving $32/4 ounce ball
SOLD OUT: This is super-fine alpaca and lamb’s wool mix is sold in four ounce balls or braids. It’s a favorite for wet and needle felters. Nuno felters will love this combination.
If you’re an expert spinner and can handle a short draw (or draught), similar to cashmere and cotton, then give this luxurious roving a try. You won’t be disappointed.
This is not combed top, so like all fine fiber, there will be noils in your finished yarn. Don’t let noils discourage you. Get yourself a sweater comb (we sell them… it’s like volcanic rock) and use it when needed. Combing does not compromise the integrity of your finished product.
One four-ounce ball spun into yarn will make a hat, or fingerless gloves.
Two four-ounce balls will make a nice pair of knee-high socks, or an infinity cowl.
To spin enough yarn for an adult woman’s sweater, with no cables (a basic raglan), you will need two pounds of roving (8 four-ounce balls).
